Moonlight Marketing, a Hong Kong-based social media marketing consultancy, educates clients how to effectively leverage social media (including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and blogs) to connect with, engage and grow their customer base.

Many are touting Social Media Marketing as the next BIG THING, as a movement that will forever change the advertising world. We don’t know if this will actually happen and we can share an industry secret with you: neither does anyone else.

We do know that it can be extremely efficient for marketing and communication objectives, and have seen examples of businesses effectively using social media marketing to do the following:
  • engage customers where they are spending much of their time,
  • market brands and deliver important product information/updates,
  • understand what consumers are saying,
  • identify/reward loyal customers; identify/appease angry ones,
  • drive and track conversions.

The Moonlight Marketing Team:

Julian Harley is Technical Lead for Moonlight Marketing.  Originally from London, he has a joint honours degree in Physics and Philosophy from Keele University and a Post-graduate diploma in e-learning technology from Ulster University.  Julian has a passion for all things technical (most recently jquery, python and django).   He has won awards for his website design, and has experience in web startups, high traffic websites, and all kinds of sites in between.  In the brief instances he’s away from his keyboard, he’s trekking in Hong Kong’s wilderness, writing or paddling.  He is also an avid photographer, writer and short film-maker.

Jason Leung is Operations Manager for Moonlight Marketing, focusing his efforts on operations, campaign management and Chinese Social Media Research.  Jason has +8 years in a variety of disciplines, including: Business Operations Management, e-Marketing and Customer Relationship Management in a Holding Group of Companies, e-Government Marketing Projects,  Business Analysis of Information Systems in a Public Organization and e-Banking System in a Multi-national Bank.  He received his BSc Honors in Information Systems from Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, United Kingdom.  Passionate about social media and emerging technologies, he is an admitted Macbook/iPhone/iPad fanatic.  His other addiction is football, both watching and playing; he even played a year of professional football in the Canadian Soccer league.

Leona Chu is a fresh graduate from Simon Fraser University in Canada with BBA Honors in Finance and Marketing. In 2008, she worked in Yahoo! HK as an intern for the Asia Pacific Region Sales Marketing Team, then went on exchange program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Leona loves outdoor activities, cooking, nature and likes to take on challenges. She had participated in a 3-week Outwards Bound program while living with rats and mosquitoes in the wilderness, distanced from civilization. With a passion in social media and technological gadgets, she is excited to join Moonlight Marketing in summer 2010.

Rebecca Wong is currently an undergraduate in The Chinese University of Hong Kong majoring in Business Administration. Career-wise, she describes herself growing at the seeding stage, constantly nurtured by inspiring people around her. Driving from the curiosity in the online industry, she most recently joined Yahoo! for a 7 month internship experience. She was mainly responsible for marketing and sales development work, and had dedicated a number of marketing researches on various industries for the team. “Turning lemon into lemonade” is her motivating motto, which is very relevant to the economic situation happening recently, she believes challenge means opportunity. Projecting from that, social networking is the opportunity which has a very large potential in the global village, and is a new way out for more efficient and traceable marketing.

Jonathan Liu (FOUNDER) started his career in the online 2003 with Los Angeles based InfoSearch Media, a content-focused SEO firm and web-services company, where he was tasked with building the client services division from the ground-up to be able to support close to 5,000 accounts.   After the successful build-up of the client services group from one to seven, Jonathan joined Yahoo! Search Marketing in late 2005 as an Account Manager supporting large-tier US advertisers. Some of his then clients included: Qwest Communications, MGM Hotels and Resorts, ServiceMagic and Avenue A Razorfish.  In spring 2008, he relocated with Yahoo! to Hong Kong and joined the Global Sales team to lead a team was responsible for selling, launching and supporting search campaigns of regional advertisers executing multi-market buys on the Yahoo! network, on behalf of both direct clients and agencies, including: HotelClub, Expedia, Venetian, CantonFair, Alibaba, HP, Disney, GroupM/Mindshare, DGM, Outrider, Efficient Frontier and McCann Erickson/MRM.  With a passion for online communities and keen interest in social networks, he founded Moonlight Marketing, a Hong Kong based social media consultancy, in early 2009.  He is a graduate of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Economics.
